I took part of yesterday and all of today off from work to get the work done on the Ferguson tractor.
Things went really smooth on the tear down so I knew that something was going to bite me in the rear.

Hood off |

Gas tank removed. There's the engine! |

Upper radiator hose removed. I have to take the thermostat housing elbow off to get to the temp gauge sending unit stuck in the underside. |

Elbow removed from engine. You can see the broken sending unit stuck in the hole. |

A little crud but not too much for its age. |

Finally it comes loose! |

No wonder it was stuck. Instead of brass, it was steel.

I didn't take any pics of the reassembly.
When I went to put the new sending unit in it would not fit.
I knew it! Just got bitten!
At first I thought that it was the wrong size.
Easy to think as it was larger than the one that came out.
Turns out the hole was just full of crud.
After cleaning out the hole, the sending unit fit just fine.
Got it all put back together.
Started the tractor up, checked for leaks, temp gauge is working.
Suddenly, the tractor sputters and dies!
Another Bite!
Another Bite!
Ugg, More fuel system problems.
Spent most of today troubleshooting, tearing down and rebuilding the fuel system.
After removing the screen from the top of the sediment bowl and rerouting the fuel line the tractor seems to be running just fine.
My dirty clothes are on the back porch airing out as they smell like gas.
I am done for the day.
Time to sit back and relax for a bit.
Back to the paying job tomorrow.
