Did some light yard work this weekend. Mowed the front, back and side yards, cut some weeds and finished splitting up some wood that was waiting for me.
I have an old MTD lawn tractor that needed some TLC. The parking brake/speed control linkage was badly bent, I straightened it out. The battery is flat line dead. It will not take a charge. The tractor had sat for a couple of years so it took a little fiddling to get it running but it is running. The starter Bendix is sticking, so I have to manually engage it. The brakes are apparently frozen. They will not engage. I guess I will have to tear them apart to get them working. The multi-speed belt drive also seems to need some help as it was slipping. All in all, for a tractor that I got for free off the side of the road and used to mow my lawn for two years before the mower deck went out I would say it is still in fairly good shape.
