I had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Spent the day with my Good friend/God Sister and her family.
Had a wonderful meal.
As usual, I ate too much.
Played video games all day on black friday.
I started working on a small table for my God Sister's water cooler.
I'm making it out of lumber that I milled with my chainsaw mill last year.
Will post pic's when I get some.
Today I put up my new G5RV HF antenna.
I can finally get on all the band's except for 6 meter. (Radio does not have 6m capability.)
WOW
What a difference a good antenna makes.
Mad my first contact on 80 meters with a ham in eastern Washington.
Tuned up to 20 meters and was met by a blast of traffic.
I could hear guys on the east coast plain as day.
Two stations in Japan were coming so strong I had to turn down the volume.
Lots, and I mean lots of traffic on 20 meters.
I didn't make any contacts as I was starting to get a headache.
Here are some pics of the antenna as I put it up.
Ready to hoist the first leg. |
It's going up there. 50 ft up. |
First leg is up. |
Second side is up. It's now in the air. |
Feed line connected. Time to haul it up to the final hight. |
It's up. Works great east to west. No so good north and south due to the pattern of the antenna. |
Time to get off here and go feed the critters.
Be safe.
