Cash strapped comfort food.

'Starving Artist',  Student,  or just plain broke?
(Or lazy, that works too)

Craving some comfort food
But Mom and Dad are not available or an option?

Here is a recipe for a version of Chili cheese mac that will feed 3 to 4 for only $3.

Ingredients:

All of these items were available from my local dollar store.

  • One 14 oz can of chili (your choice)
  • One 1.4 oz package of cheese sauce or other cheese if avail. (Velveeta style works best)
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 can's of water.
Place chili and water in large sauce pan,  bring to a boil.
(Add any additional spices you like, I added a few dashes of Chipotle Tabasco)
Add macaroni
Cook uncovered, stirring frequently (to prevent sticking) till macaroni is tender
Turn off heat, do not remove pan, do not drain.
Add cheese sauce
stir till well blended.

Sauce will thicken as it cools.

Ladle into bowl(s)

Enjoy.

Time from start to chow - about 15 minutes.

Refrigerate leftovers (If any) for next day.

My cost to make - $3

Simple, fast, filling, cheap

And surprisingly good.

Good food does not have to be expensive or time consuming.
