So I have been having problems with the fuel system on the Ferguson tractor. It kept dying like it was running out of gas.
Turn's out, it was, even with over a quarter of a tank of fuel.
When I rebuilt the fuel system I installed an inline filter between the sediment bowl and the carb.
Bad idea.
New filters are designed for pumped systems and the Ferguson is a gravity feed system. The modern filter was creating too much restriction and not letting enough gas through to the carb.
I removed the filter from the system and it runs great.
With the exception of rubber hose instead of copper line it is the same setup as what was original.
I am still fighting with the temperature sending unit. The old one is stuck and wont come out. I can't get an easy out extractor to fit so I am waiting for an inside pipe wrench to try that.
If the inside pipe wrench does not work I will have to take the thermostat housing off the tractor to drill and tap the hole.
I DON'T want to have to do that.
For now, the tractor is useable I just have to be careful not to work it too hard and overheat it as I have no temp gage to tell me when it is getting hot.
