Had a long week of 10 hour shifts at work.
At least I got today (Sunday) off.
Worked on the engine for the walk behind tractor.
The tank is ready to be mounted.
The tank is mounted with metal bands.
I want to protect the tank from the bands so I decided to put strips of rubber under the bands.
Donor for the rubber needed.
Old bicycle inner tube. |
I then cut out the strips
Strips cut |
Checking the size. Looks right. |
I still have to make a new fuel line.
Brought the engine inside the shop to work on it.
Note the old fuel line. Or what is left of it. |
That exhaust is in the way and I want to get rid of the elbow.
Carb and muffler removed. |
It was a pain but I got the elbow out. |
I have no idea why someone put this on there. |
Carb re-installed and new fitting on it. Ready for the tank. |
I had to remove the bottom screws from the bands as well and replace them.
Then I installed the tank.
Yes I know the tank is a little canted but that was to give me a little more clearance to install the fittings on the bottom of the tank.
Unfortunately, the threads on the tank (1/8 compression fitting) are not the same as 1/8 pipe.
I was able to use the old elbow from the carb to adapt it but now I need either a 1/8 pipe union or a 1/8 female pipe to 1/4 compression fitting.
Neither of which I happen to have.
So for now it is at a stopping point till payday.
